Cyber Infidelity - Is your spouse communicating with someone else online?

Cyber infidelity is common now that most adults have personal computers and access to the internet both at work and at home. Computers can be used to meet prospective new partners online in chat rooms or on dating websites. There are even websites that cater to men and women looking to meet other married people who want a discreet extramarital affair.

Even if your spouse did not meet his/her infidelity partner online, it is very likely that they are in contact via e-mail or instant messaging through your personal computer. Of course, they are not going to use an account that you have access to. So, how can you find out if they are using another internet email account? And, what are the signs that your partner is using the computer for cyber infidelity?

Before my husband left me to be with his mistress, he would spend hours on the computer each night and would stay up long after I would go to bed. He would fall asleep on the sofa and state that he fell asleep while watching TV. I would get on the computer when his was at work and would notice that the computers browsing history had been cleared. On occasion, I would check the preferences in the browser and find that he set it to "private browsing" so that I could not see which websites he had visited. The first was from a company called AwarenessTech and I really liked all the features the program offered. I ordered it online and when I tried to set it up I realized that it would not work with my computer. I had a Mac and it was only for PC based computers. I called them and they happily returned my money. They have several great features to catch cyber infidelity!

I searched for Macintosh based spy programs and found SpectorSoft that had PC and Mac based programs. I downloaded the program and was instantly able to start spying. I didn't have many opportunities to catch his cyber infidelity as he had already moved out, but I did get some very useful information.

The kids and I went to Grandma's house for a week last Christmas and I let my spouse have access to the house and computer while we were away. He came over to feed the animals and since he did not have a computer at his house he made use of mine. Cyber infidelity encompasses all aspects of affairs online sexual or not.

He did not know that the spy software was on the computer and he would access his email account. When we returned home, I could see all the emails that he looked at and I could see all the information that he typed into the computer. Unfortunately, the Macintosh browser "Safari" has sophisticated anti-spy features. With any other browser, I could see the passwords my husband typed in. With Safari, I could not. As soon as I found out this information, I deleted the Safari browser and replaced it with Firefox. When he would type passwords into Firefox, I could now "see" them.

Using this program, I was able to find his new email account, read the emails he wrote to his "girlfriend", find his lover's email address, check his bank and credit card accounts, and learn his passwords to all these accounts. In addition, I could see any websites that he went to even if he deleted the browser history or had the computer set to private browsing.

I went to New York for a course in January and was gone for ten days. During that time, he stayed at my house with the kids. I already had confronted him about his infidelity. When I returned, I checked the computer and found that he had visited some lesbian porno sites while I was gone.

In late May, I was able to see his email account and find out that he had a new cell phone and what the phone number was.

Now that his adulterous affair with her is over and he has returned home, I am able to keep an eye on his computer usage without him being the wiser. I don't need to get into his bank accounts anymore because he looks at them on the internet monthly and I can see on the computer the screens he visits.

I can also see files on the computer that he has hidden from me whenever he opens them up. Without this program, I would not know that they existed. For instance, I know that he has a porn folder hidden deep in the computer where I would never think to look. He had 31 videos in there the last time I counted.

Both programs have the ability to get remote access to the computer being spied on (except if it is a Mac). So, if your spouse travels for business and takes a laptop with him/her you can see what he/she is doing on the computer while away from you from the comfort of your home computer.

The spyware program is one of the best tools that I have used in discovering my spouses affair. The program cost less than renting the GPS device did and I get to keep it forever.

I continue to gain important information about what my spouse is doing on the computer and I am learning to trust him as he is not communicating with his ex-lover or anyone else of the opposite sex online. The program has the added benefit that I can use it to see what my children are doing on the computer. As my kids get older, I will see what they are doing online and who they are chatting with.

Your chances of catching your cheating spouse are much greater if you employ several tactics at the same time. Each method gives you a glimpse into their activities. The more glimpses you get, the clearer the picture becomes. Infidelity tests can give you conclusive evidence of a sexual relationship with someone else. Searching his/her belongings can give you clues as to whether he/she is having an extramarital affair. Private investigators can give specific advice on how to catch a cheating spouse and can get photos of the infidelity once their whereabouts are known. Cell phone, bank and credit card statements can show if your significant other is communicating with and spending money on his/her new lover.
